Confidentiality and Parental Involvement
Confidentiality in and out of the Nursery is absolute. All Nursery Staff, students and other adults are expected to refrain from the passage of any information; verbal, written or in any other form to any person, organisation or other information media regarding any aspect of the service provided to any child attending the Nursery. This also includes personal circumstances regarding individual children, their personal records and circumstances of the parents/carers of children currently attending/previously attended Awsworth Schoolhouse Day Nursery.
  • Any Staff or person who has had associations with West Point House Day Nursery and is discovered breaking confidentiality as stated above would be liable to legal prosecution.
  • We ensure that all parents/carers are aware of all policies and encourage them to query/discuss any practices they are unsure of.
  • Parents/carers are regarded as the principle educators and providers of the children and Nursery Staff are committed in working in partnership with them to provide the best childcare service to each child.
  • Parents are welcome to discuss the progress of their child with the Nursery Manager and Keyworkers, as well as examination of developmental charts and daily reports.
  • We actively encourage all parents/carers to participate in fund raising , Open Days/ Open Evenings that have been organised to further develop relationships between themselves and the Nursery Staff, as well as discuss their child’s welfare.

  • Any new developments or changes within the Nursery concerning parents/carers will be transmitted via verbal and written communication.
  • Communication is an important factor in building relationships. Nursery Staff need to be aware of illness, medication, domestic problems or change of circumstances which may affect the child whilst at the Nursery.
  • Communication regarding any aspects of the overall services provided at the Nursery, (e.g. childcare, management, administration), is encouraged from all parents/carers. The Senior Management Team will send out questionnaires. from time to time to assess and monitor the quality of service that is provided at West Point House Day Nursery.
  • The Nursery will attempt to work with the parent to ensure that their child is receiving the best possible childcare arrangements at the Nursery. However if it is felt by the Nursery Director that despite all efforts, a breakdown of relationship had occurred between the parent/carer and the Nursery and as such, the Nursery is unable to continue providing childcare services to the child, then the Nursery Director can terminate the childcare agreement/contract with the parent by providing the parent with four weeks notice to allow the parent to organise alternative childcare arrangements.
  • Permission is necessary from parents/carers of children prior to the taking of any photographs at any time for any purpose at the Nursery.
