In attempt to provide information for our parents/carers, and assist in the smooth running of the Nursery, we have written policies and procedures covering a number of relevant issues that affect or concern the children. These include Equal Opportunities; Special Needs; Health & Safety; Child Abuse; Accident/Medical and Discipline Procedures. We feel that it is essential that these policies are clearly defined and that all parent/carers are familiar with them before placing their child in our care.
These Policies are available, but will be provided to all parents/carers of children prior to placing the child in our care, together with the Nursery Registration Form, and the Childcare Agreement.
To help us care for our parents/carers and their children, and assist in the smooth running of the Nursery, we have written policies and procedures that cover a number of relevant issues that are directly linked to the quality of child care services provided at Awsworth Schoolhouse Day Nursery.
These have been produced with consultation with Nursery Staff; guidance from the National Standards for Under Eight’s Day Care, personal experiences/ knowledge of the Senior Management Team (Director And Manager), when working with children in a Day Nursery environment; and with regard of the needs and wishes of parents/carers of children attending the Nursery
These are definitions of our aims and dedication towards the children in our care. We feel that it is essential that these policies are clearly defined and that each parent/carer is familiar with them before placing their child in our care.

Awsworth School House Day Nursery Return To Home Page Curriculum
  • The Nursery has a Curriculum Planning Policy covering Long Term, Medium Term and Short Term Planning Guidance notes for all Nursery Staff.
  • The Nursery staff follow statutory guidance namely ‘Birth to Three Matters’ for children aged birth to three years and the ‘Early Learning Goals’ when planning activities for children within the individual Units. Curriculum content and implementation of these is monitored by Ofsted as part of the regular inspection procedures.
  • All Nursery Staff will endeavour to encourage all the children attending the Nursery to develop the necessary skills and attitudes to cope in today’s society and in their lives ahead. The children and their well being are always the primary concern with all activities planned according to age, capabilities, previous experiences and physical, emotional and social considerations of the individual child.
  • An overall policy of ‘Learning through Play’ is followed in each Unit at the Nursery, with emphasis of constant praise and encouragement as the pathway to success in everything that the child is in involved with at the Nursery.
  • Journals, developmental and progression charts, and daily records are kept that allow the Nursery Staff to meet individual needs of the children in their Units, which are available to parents/carers.
  • Open Days/Evenings are organised to discuss children’s development as well as provide details of curriculum content within each Unit.
  • The parents/carers are regarded, as the principle educators of their children and the Nursery Staff are committed in working in partnership with parents/carers to ensure that individual needs of all children are met, emotionally, socially, physically and educationally.
